Channel golfers braved the September weather to tee-off in style for the seventh annual CRN Channel Golf Challenge.
Held for the second year running at the East Sussex National Resort and Spa, a total of 22 channel teams took part in the event this year.
Robin Booth, CRN’s publishing director, led CRN’s own team of golfers.
“It was pelting down for the first five holes,” said Booth. “But luckily the rain stopped and we managed to complete the rest of the holes in the dry. No one let the weather stop them which was great. There was a real Dunkirk spirit about the whole day.”
After lunch, each of the winners from the event were presented with their trophies by CRN’s Booth and headline sponsor Opal.
The team from Gen-X IT managed to secure first place, closely followed by Q Associates in second place and the Technology Channels Association (TCA) team grabbed third place.
Jon Atherton from the TCA team won the Nearest the Pin prize and Doug Morley from the Griffin Internet team scooped the longest drive trophy.
Atherton said: “It was a great day and the third time I have taken part in the event. It is always well run and has great networking opportunities. Despite the weather we all soldiered on like good golfers do.”
Andy Hollingworth, director of wholesale at Opal, said: “It was a great privilege for Opal to support the CRN golf day. In CRN and Opal you have two trusted brands that are committed to working in partnership with the channel, so we felt it was a good fit.
“We’ve been dedicated to the channel since our inception and really enjoy these opportunities to meet with and offer support to partners in a relaxed environment as well as having a great day’s golf on a fantastic course.”
