Stone the crows! Pieces of Valentine's-themed, thoroughly non-self-serving advice from

security vendors are clearly like London buses: you wait all year and then two turn up at once.

Never knowingly late to a bandwagon, Websense has pounced on this most spirit-

sapping and wallet-lightening festivity to remind us, once again, of the dangers posed by internet rapscallions.

"As Valentine's Day approaches, there seems to be more of a focus on spam directed at soliciting services and selling products," mused the vendor.

Scary. The spam directed at preventing feline cruelty and furthering religious tolerance that gets peddled throughout the rest of the year is bad enough.

Elad Sharf from Websense Security Labs advised emailers to delete any dodgy-looking correspondence.

"Whatever you're hoping to get this Valentine's Day - chocolates? flowers? - I'll bet that spam wasn't on your list," he pointed out, for some reason.

True enough, Elad. I bet you don't think a case of discontinued Hungarian CRM software is on most people's list either, do you? But I think I know my wife a little better than you, mate.
