Bateman: VAD scheme reflects Bell's investment in leading-edge technology

Software giant Microsoft has named Bell Micro and Computer 2000 (C2000) as the first UK members of its new global Value Added Distributor (VAD) programme.

To qualify for VAD status, both C2000 and Bell Micro had to demonstrate to Microsoft their commitment to one or more of three "less mature" technology areas – virtualisation, security or unified communications – through a “defined” level of investment.

The programme, said Microsoft, was proof of its commitment to its partners and forms a “critical part” of its long-term channel strategy.

Lee Perkins, country manager at C2000, said: “During the last 12 months we have worked extremely closely with Microsoft to develop new business opportunities for a number of resellers, both in conventional licensing but equally importantly in the virtualisation and security markets via our specialist technical and business development resources.”

Ed Bateman, director of commercial business EMEA at Bell Micro, said the accreditation was reflective of the investment his firm had made in Microsoft’s “leading-edge technology”.

He added: “Microsoft has recognised that they need to work with and suitably reward distribution partners who are willing to invest in the necessary infrastructure and have the skill set to deliver increasing complex technology to the market.”
