SCH Distribution (SCHd) is aiming to become Fujitsu’s dominant UK distributor after doubling the size of its dedicated Fujitsu team.
The distributor has relocated all of its Fujitsu resources to Langley under the roof of IQ Sys, the software specialist it bought last year. Three new heads have also been hired.
The consolidation is in line with SCHd’s new ‘centre of excellence’ approach to its key platform vendors, with HP resource now concentrated in Birmingham and IBM in Warrington.
Rob Tomlin, business unit director at SCHd brand Interface, said: “We are investing heavily in Fujitsu as we believe it will be a major player in the market over the coming years.”
Tomlin said SCHd is already Fujitsu’s second-largest server distributor behind Micro Peripherals a year after gaining access to the vendor’s Primergy range and wanted to make a similar impact on the client side. “We want to be the dominant player on Fujitsu technology.”
“Overall SCHd is the largest x86 server distributor,” said Tomlin. “Our investment in Fujitsu is in line with our ambition to become number one on all platforms we distribute.”
Darren Neath, channel director at vendor Fujitsu, welcomed the move.
“SCHd has done a good job for us in server and storage and now it is growing its client business to get the same leverage.”
