After securing a new round of funding, wireless LAN (WLAN) vendor Extricom has rejigged its executive line-up and is hunting resellers to help it crack new vertical markets.
Yaron Hermeche has joined the company as chief financial officer, while WLAN industry veteran Phil Belanger has been appointed vice president of marketing and business development.
Extricom’s latest round of funding has been led by long-term investors Magma Venture Partners and Vertex Venture Capital.
Belanger would not reveal the exact amount invested, but said it was “double-digit millions” of US dollars.
“We will push a lot of those funds into engineering and marketing,” he said. “But, ultimately, we want to become self sufficient.”
Belanger claimed the UK, which has 25 Extricom resellers, is one of the vendor’s most fruitful regions. He indicated his firm is strong in the education space and is eager to look at opportunities in hospitality and warehousing.
“We will be bringing on new resellers to expand those verticals,”
he added.
VAR MET has worked with Extricom for more than two years and managing director Ian Vickers said: “It can be difficult to develop wireless knowledge and expertise, but Extricom has been very supportive.”
