Lucey: Does not fall over.

Number of staff you manage?
17.

Golf handicap?
10.

How many beers before you fall over?
I’m Irish, we don’t.

Car or other vehicle you drive?
Mercedes E Class -- and a Paganini racing bicycle, my preferred option.

What was your first job?
I worked for a Dr Martens and Ecco shoe distributor. However, at 12, I was an unregistered money lender to my older sister who always needed cash for cigarettes. I charged 50 per cent interest over two days.

How much did it pay and was that fair?
It paid £2.50 an hour and I was the richest I ever was.

How did you get into IT?
I tripped.

Which TV character would you most like to be?
Cal Lightman from Lie to Me.

Are you looking forward to the London Summer Games in 2012?
Yes, it will be one huge party.

What sport should be in the Olympics but isn’t?
Darts. Just for the drama and to see the guys in tracksuits for the opening ceremony.

How do you relax, and do you find it easy to switch off from work?
Sleep. No problem switching off, although work is fun so I don’t mind.

Which is your favourite city?
Cork. But we prefer to see it as an independent Mediterranean city-state, rather than Irish. Also, Cork was recently voted one of the top four places to go in the world by Lonely Planet.

Is there any future in simply selling packaged product?
Only if it is a liquid.

What could prompt you to give it all up and join the revolution?
A nice offer for the company, buy the boat and go work on the handicap. Unfortunately, I would only last two weeks and be right back into it.

What is your favourite joke or the one you heard most recently?
Most recent: What do you call Bob the Builder in a recession? Bob.
Old favourite: What do you call a man with a sausage on his head? A head-banger.

Which is more satisfying: money or power?
I’ll take the cash and buy the power.

What is your ideal holiday destination?
Skiing. For some reason, being close to death seems to be relaxing

Is IT well taught in schools?
No. These days the kids should do the teaching.
