Components and peripherals distributor VIP has launched a tool enabling resellers to populate their website with pricing and stock information.

After one initial download, VIP’s customisable Data Access Solution (DAS) imports live information from VIP’s own system.

According to VIP, which turned over £163m in its last financial year, the tool will allow resellers to reap the benefits of the large quantities of stock it holds. It will also eliminate their need to hold stock as well as reducing insurance premiums, the distributor said.

Patrick Smith, IT manager at VIP, said: “VIP recognises that in the current economic climate, every penny and every minute counts to our customers. We are, therefore, very pleased to release this application, as it will greatly simplify the way customers access and use the VIP XML product data feed.

"Our DAS is designed to provide our customers with product information, including ‘Stock’, ‘Price’ and ‘Technical Specifications’, in a way that is easy to incorporate into their own applications, significantly reducing development times and costs.”
