Intrusion prevention vendor Sourcefire has chosen Avnet Technology Solutions as its first UK distribution partner.
The vendor said the deal marks its move away from its single-tier channel strategy, with its resellers expected to be taken on by Avnet.
Anthony Perridge, EMEA channel director at Sourcefire, said: “Our business is growing rapidly and signing Avnet means we can scale up the support to our UK partners.”

Perridge added that Avnet will also be responsible for bringing on board additional resellers and allow the firm to trap “incremental business”.
Bruce Hockin, head of business strategy at Avnet, said Sourcefire’s product portfolio should prove a good fit with the firm’s networking and security offerings.
“Access to additional finance, business development and marketing resources will help Sourcefire partners grow their security business,” he added.
