Wireless LAN vendor Ruckus Wireless is launching an assault on the hospitality sector with new distributor Selcoms, citing booming demand for Wi-Fi among hotel users.
Wireless specialist distributor Selcoms has been granted access to Ruckus’ ZoneFlex range, which it will punt to its base of 130 resellers in the UK and Ireland.
Jim Calderbank, director of enterprise sales EMEA at Ruckus, claimed the hospitality vertical is “especially hot” for the US-based vendor.

“All travellers now expect Wi-Fi in their rooms and conference suites. They often want to do more than just check their email, whether that’s making calls over the internet or accessing multi-media resources,” he said. “Combining our expertise with Selcoms contacts, we are confident of making further inroads into this market.”
Rob Mortimer, sales director at Selcoms, agreed. “Many UK hotels want to provide their guests with reliable wireless access and services such as wireless voice over IP – with Ruckus, we can guarantee this and provide cost-effective solutions that suit this sector’s business model.”
The partnership will also target large enterprises, as well as the transportation market and large hotspot deployments.
