Interface Solutions is to follow in the footsteps of fellow broadliners Ingram Micro and Avnet by setting up a specialist auto-ID unit.

Spurred on by the success of its partnership with barcode printing vendor Zebra, the distributor intends to recruit a four-man team to push Zebra and complementary auto-ID technology by the fourth quarter.

CRN understands that Interface has already enlisted former Zebra channel development specialist Martin Smith to head the team.

Warren Hudson, commercial director at Interface, said: “We’re speaking to vendors that complement Zebra so we can attack the auto-ID space in an aggressive way.

“We will give the vendors access to something that the usual auto-ID channels cannot give them: IT resellers that are looking to broaden their horizons.”
