Softek has secured a distribution deal with security appliance vendor PineApp shortly after its contract with rival M86 Security was terminated.
The distributor was dropped from web security software vendor M86’s line-up in the summer in the wake of Marshal and 8e6’s merger. Its 30-day notice period ended on 1 September.
But now Softek is targeting its former Marshal dealer partners with a new appliance-based alternative from PineApp. Jersey-based Softek will be PineApp’s second UK distributor alongside Security IP.

Mike Bienvenu, technical director at Softek, said PineApp’s per-unit pricing model makes it a cost-effective choice for cash-strapped end users.
“After extensive testing, we believe their product portfolio is technically excellent, and provides one of the most comprehensive, yet easy-to-manage feature sets available for managing spam and internet-borne threats,” he said.
Rakash Gupta, chief executive of PineApp UK, added: “Softek has a long and credible history in the security space and we are delighted to be working with them to bring PineApp’s solutions to their reseller network.”
