Computerlinks has expanded its drive into the IP surveillance market by signing Mobotix for its range of unusual internet-enabled surveillance cameras.
John Turner, head of the security division at Computerlinks, said Mobotix IP-enabled cameras should especially appeal to IT resellers.
“We call them Marmite products - you either love them or hate them for their unusual design,” he said. “But they are very much an IT-focused solution for surveillance. We have been describing them more as a computer with a lens.”

Turner said Mobotix sales could give Computerlinks resellers the option to
broaden their portfolio or even enter the strongly growing
IP-based
security systems market.
Computerlinks claims that about 41 per cent of large enterprises are set to
deploy IP-based physical security within six months.
Andrew McCarthy, business development manager at Mobotix, said: “We see the ability to provide full pre-sales and technical support as key to the development of this market.”
