Eighteen months on from its acquisition of communications distributor MTV Telecom, Scansource is aiming to become an enterprise player in the UK.

The Avaya distributor brought its point of sale and barcode business to European shores in 2001. Two years ago it decided to acquire its way into the region’s comms market.

MTV Telecom was snapped up in April 2008 and has since been rebranded Scansource Communications Europe. Senior management Martin Hatcher and Natalie Foers have departed and acting managing director Clay Sorensen is looking
for someone to lead the firm permanently.

Sorensen revealed that account management and business development staff have been recruited to help lead the charge to the upper end of the market.

“We are focused on moving into the mid-market and enterprise side of the communications world,” he said. “We want to become a true convergence distributor.”
