Wireless specialist distributor 802 Global is looking to bolster its headcount and accelerate revenue growth after securing a £1m investment from entrepreneur David Hammond.
A former director of home security firm ADT, Hammond has also worked in the automotive and outsourcing industries and won the 2003 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. 802 Global distributes products from a number of wireless LAN vendors, as well as IP CCTV and voice over IP offerings. Hammond will now serve on the company’s supervisory board.
Tim Close, managing director of 802 Global, told CRN the investment would help bolster technical, sales and marketing resources, as well as improve its stockholding capabilities. “We want to strengthen our marketing to make us better known in the channel and make the solutions better known to end users,” he said.

Close also revealed he is in discussions to sign up several vendors and is targeting 50 per cent revenue growth this year. “We envisage setting up a presence in the Republic of Ireland and want to double the workforce,” he said.
“These are very demanding times and it is vital that businesses have a strong management team and a clear strategy for maximising their business potential,” he added.
