Hamman: Loves cars but planes and trains are also good

What was your first job, and how did you get into IT?
My first job was with Hamlyn Publishing as a darkroom operative. I managed to get a summer job with Hamlyn before starting a graphic design course at Epsom College of Art. I obviously fitted in because they asked me to join permanently!

Planes, trains or automobiles?
I love cars and driving but to be honest, I don't really have any real preference. Due to the recent volcanic ash cloud and European airspace closure, I was one of millions stuck in Europe. We flew to Berlin and travelled back by train, car and ferry. Although I would love to have a flash car, all that really matters is that you can get to where you are going and back in a timely fashion.

What sport should be in the Olympics?
Water skiing should be reintroduced. Snow sports get a chance in winter, so why not water when the snow has melted?

What could prompt you to give it all up and join the revolution?
Apathetic politicians who lead our beautiful land poorly, into the mire of nanny state-dom.

What is your favourite joke or the one you heard most recently?
The last I heard was: Did you hear about the cowboy who walked in to a German car showroom, and said: ‘Audi.’

What was your best business trip or junket ever?

In my late 20s, I visited a subsidiary in France for an exhibition, and after a late night wining and dining customers we ended up in a very, very, late night wine bar and experienced a side of life that I thought had long disappeared.

What was the best holiday you ever went on?
The Dominican Republic offered the most beautiful beach I have ever walked on – it reminded me of the Bounty bar adverts on TV.

If you had a week to live, how would you fill it?
Spending time with the people in my life who I love and make me happy.

“I never…”
... thought my life would be as full as it is!

“I always…”
... try to have something to read in the bathroom.

Print or online news?
Print – I use a computer everyday and sometimes it is nice just to sit down and have a flick though a newspaper or read a good book.

Do you use social media?
Yes – for business purposes only. I would rather talk to or see my friends in person!

Do vendors do enough to help their channel?
Vendors support their channels in different ways and within the constraints of their own businesses. Every vendor has a different approach and ideas about how to support their markets and this has to be respected because they know their businesses and markets. Those who make the wrong decisions will not be around for long!
