Westcon Group has added wireless IDS/IPS vendor AirMagnet to its stable of networking products in EMEA.

The distributor will push AirMagnet’s entire portfolio, including its flagship Laptop Analyzer and AirMagnet Survey products, to its resellers across the region. AirMagnet's technology is designed to resolve wireless LAN (WLAN) deployment issues by minimising security risks and maximising productivity.

With enterprise adoption of WLAN still at just 20 per cent in most markets, AirMagnet argued the sector was ripe for growth.

Ian Schenkel, managing director EMEA of AirMagnet, said: “We believe that the market is set to develop substantially over the next 12 to 18 months.

“Our distribution agreement with Westcon will help to drive growth by enabling systems integrators and customers to plan and deploy secure, manageable wireless infrastructure easily and with confidence.”

Guy Koster, vice president of Westcon Group’s Technology Solutions Group, said: “WLAN deployments in enterprises are often difficult to plan and manage with the same granularity as their wired equivalents; security concerns and compliance issues have also served as a barrier to mass adoption in the workplace.”
