Surrey-based VAR Ramsac is aiming to cash in on companies’ technology refresh cycles after launching its unified communications (UC) business unit last week.
The unit has been two years in the making, with investments made in training and additional staff.
Robert May, managing director of Ramsac, singled out ShoreTel and Microsoft as key vendors.

“A lot of traditional voice companies are trying to come up with alternatives to UC because they do not have the IT skills,” he said. “We have taken time developing our skills.”
May claimed his firm has long enjoyed success in the professional services market and that the new unit would provide lucrative opportunities to cross-sell into Ramsac’s existing customer base.
“We are a trusted advisor,” he said. “There are companies out there that last had the experience of buying voice technology 10-15 years ago.”
Rob Bamforth, principal analyst for Quocirca, said: “(UC has) hard, quantifiable benefits, as well as softer ones. It is about people and processes, rather than technology. That is why the channel is better suited to addressing this than vendors.”
