Denise Bryant: Magirus will invest time and money for its resellers.

Storage giant Magirus is aiming to reduce the risk of product investment for its resellers, by providing services on their behalf until they are up to speed.

The distributor is offering to support resellers while they develop an action plan for training their own staff on unfamiliar technology.

The launch of the new service follows the release of EMC’s new Clariion CX4 Series of mid-range storage systems.
After Magirus sold off its HP and IBM business to rival Avnet in July 2007, the distributor claimed it wanted to focus on virtualisation, security and its EMC business.

Denise Bryant, director of services and EMC distribution, said: “A VAR might find a new solution, but be wary about investing time and money. Magirus will do that for them.

“It is not forever and is carried out in parallel to the resellers’ training on the new solution. EMC wants VARs to become authorised and Magirus never wants its partners to feel like it is competing with them.”

Magirus unveiled its Service Division in January, which comprises the Magirus Training Academy, the Professional Services and Services Support business units.
