Boardman: BluBox is going from strength to strength and I am glad to be part of it

Rock founder Nick Boardman has ended a 17-year association with the system builder by joining digital image compression software specialist BluBox as commercial director.

The channel veteran will lead the company's commercial and sales operations. He has been tasked with developing a channel strategy and instigating OEM partnerships.

BluBox chief executive Peter Boswell said: “Nick joins us with an invaluable knowledge and understanding of the IT industry and his passion and drive make him a perfect addition to our team. We are delighted to welcome him and are certain that his wealth of experience will help us take BluBox to another level.”

Boardman, 37, left school at 16 and began his IT career by working for a number of resellers. He founded Rock in 1992 and helmed the company until May last year, when it fell into administration and was bought by Stone Group.

Boardman took up a role as director of Stone's mobile technology arm before moving to a position as product development director this July. The move coincided with the public sector specialist unifying its acquired brands under the Stone banner.

But the Rock brand lives on, having been reinvented as a high-end PC manufacturer focused solely on the gaming market. The company launches its first gaming desktop this month. But Boardman claimed the growth being enjoyed by BluBox had been enough to tempt him away.

“These are very exciting times for BluBox," he said. "The company is growing at an incredible pace. BluBox has outstanding products and I am delighted to be involved and to be working with people that are equally as passionate about what they do. BluBox is going from strength to strength and I am glad to be part of it.”
