Security and WAN application delivery vendor Blue Coat Systems' second quarter performance was given a shot in the arm by recent acquisition Packeteer.
Total net revenue for the three months to 31 October increased 62 per cent to $119m ($78m) compared to the same quarter last year. Excluding revenue associated with the acquisition of Packeteer net revenue hit $93.9m, an increase of 28 per cent compared to $73.4m in the same quarter last year.
Brian NeSmith, president and chief executive officer of Blue Coat Systems, said: “We have largely completed the integration of Packeteer, which we acquired in June, and recognised approximately $25m in net revenue from the acquired business in the second quarter.

“In addition, we achieved integration between our ProxySG appliances and the PacketShaper appliances we acquired from Packeteer.”
Blue Coat reported a non-generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) net profit of $11.6m in the second quarter of fiscal 2009, compared to non-GAAP net profit of $12.4m, in the second quarter of fiscal 2008.
