Newly formed Nortel reseller Proximity Communications has been accredited as a Voice Ready Partner for Microsoft Unified Communications (UC).

Proximity was born out of the merger of Applinet and Unified Group in March.

It said the accreditation – which is currently held by just a handful of UK resellers – underlines its UC skills around Microsoft Office Communications Server and Exchange Server.

Ian Andrews, voice technology partner account manager at Microsoft, said: “Proximity is a great example of a Microsoft partner building upon existing skills in legacy business telecommunications to innovate and introduce new capabilities that expand their businesses with Microsoft’s UC open software platform.”

Darren Boyce, chief executive of Proximity, said: “This latest accreditation underpins a long-term strategy to develop the highest level of expertise and technique within the organisation.

“Choosing just a handful of vendors, we can ensure our engineers and consultants have the knowledge and confidence to provide impartial, sound counsel to customers rather than sell out-of-the-box product suites.”
