Hard drive giant promotes Mark Whitby to vice president of sales and marketing role

Hard drive giant Seagate has promoted Mark Whitby to vice president, sales and marketing EMEA.

Joining Seagate in 2007, Whitby most recently held the position of executive director, FSU, Middle East & Africa sales and EMEA marketing with the company.

Based in Marlow, Whitby will report to Kurt Richarz, Seagate’s executive vice president for sales and marketing.

Richarz said: “Mark brings the skills and experience to his new role that will enable him and his team to further develop our business in EMEA, driving profitability for Seagate and for our business partners in the region.

“His leadership and industry knowledge will be important as we seek to take advantage of the opportunities that are being presented by the current market dynamics in EMEA, a region that accounts for nearly 30 per cent of Seagate’s worldwide sales. I believe that Mark, with his comprehensive knowledge of the industry and backed by an experienced team, is ideally equipped to lead our sales and marketing efforts in EMEA.”

Whitby has been in the IT and communication industry for over 20 years. Prior to Seagate he held senior sales and marketing positions with Vodafone and Intel. He began his career at ICI.
