IP management vendor BlueCat Networks has launched a virtual software solution on VMware architecture to open a new route to market for Avnet and its UK channel.
BlueCat’s virtual appliance enables firms to use BlueCat’s IPAM and DNS/DHCP functionality without installing additional hardware.
It is aimed at organisations that have implemented a virtual infrastructure and want to centrally deploy, manage, monitor and audit IP addresses, but do not have the internal resources to install and maintain a physical solution.

Bruce Hockin, head of business strategy for networking and security at Avnet Technology Solutions, said BlueCat’s VMware architecture allows Avnet to straddle both markets.
“More routes to market mean more people to target and a better return,” he said. “The VMware architecture broadens the channel’s reach and gives end users more choice.”
Simon Lowery, regional director at BlueCat Networks Europe, said: “Our technology can now be delivered as an appliance or as software for a virtual environment, which came from looking at end users’ core infrastructures and migration.”
Lowery added that BlueCat is currently expanding its relationship with Avnet into Europe.
