Distributor Horizon Solutions has been appointed as a channel development provider for voice over IP (VoIP) vendor AudioCodes.
Horizon, which has become the unified communications (UC) division of Avnet following its takeover earlier this year (CRN, 7 July), will supply the technology - which includes VoIP and voice network products – to Avnet’s entire reseller base.
Arieh Shemesh, vice president of sales at AudioCodes, said: “We are constantly investing our efforts in the Microsoft UC arena, and we are enhancing our presence in this market by leveraging Horizon’s vast experience in the unified communications field. We have recently announced the release of the new Mediant 1000 multi-service business gateway (MSBG), and together with Horizon Solutions we will be launching this product in the United Kingdom.”

Wayne Gratton, divisional director of Horizon Solutions, said: “We are very impressed with AudioCodes technology which is already embedded on an OEM basis by many big name IP telephony vendors. AudioCodes enables us to connect IP telephony solutions to UC environments such as Microsoft Office Communications Server. Our IP-based collaborative business application portfolio will be greatly enhanced by the addition of AudioCodes which will facilitate further growth in the rapidly maturing UC market. UC technology is maturing fast, and is growing in popularity at an accelerated pace.”
