Authentication vendor Vasco has appointed distributors Tekdata and IQ Sys to boost its presence in SonicWall and Citrix’s channels, respectively.
Vasco positions its enterprise products as ‘add ons’ to other manufacturers’ solutions.
Existing distributors Wick Hill and e92plus work with Vasco solution partners WatchGuard and Barracuda. However, corporate communications director Jochem Binst admitted Vasco lacked clout with SonicWall and Citrix.
“Our distributors’ relationships with solution partners are important to us,” he explained.
However, Vasco’s existing distributors expressed unease at the strategy.
Mukesh Gupta, managing director of e92plus which has worked with Vasco for
seven years said the move may force it to take on a rival authentication
brand.
“Vasco has finite resources and is spreading itself too thin,” said Gupta. “It has to do what it feels is right for its business and likewise we do too.”
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, said: “The authentication market is still growing strongly and I understand Vasco’s goal about addressing different markets I look forward to that happening.”
