Wireless LAN (WLAN) vendor Ruckus has increased its presence in the UK after signing Vcomm to distribute its Zoneflex product.
The vendor first entered the UK channel last year when it signed Acal Networks as a distribution partner. At the time Ruckus’ claim that Zoneflex was the first affordable WLAN offering for the mid-market was roundly dismissed by some of its bigger rivals.
James Calderbank, EMEA director of enterprise sales for Ruckus, preferred to focus on technological virtues. “In the mid-market we offer the best Wi-Fi there is with our smart antenna technology. It is faster and more reliable,” he said.

“Coupled with that is the simplicity of the setup. Enterprise solutions can be complex, but Zoneflex allows resellers who have been burned by wireless to buy into it again. They can go to an end user and set it up in about five minutes.”
Vcomm managing director Scott Dobson claimed the Zoneflex product filled a gap in his company’s portfolio.
“To play in this space you have to be able to generate high bandwidth data streams and Ruckus has built a very strong reputation,” Dobson said. “The price is very aggressive and Ruckus is going to be disruptive in this market.”
