Managed services provider BIS will sell Pillar Data Systems’ storage platform after successfully trialling the product as a customer.
BIS deployed Pillar’s storage system to support its online data backup services. BIS claimed to have chosen the system because of its ease of operation and low long-term cost. It will now sell the Pillar offering to end-users that want a primary storage system.
Raj Bosamia, head of product development at BIS, said: “We provide data centres and network connectivity, so we needed a scalable SAN infrastructure. We had a look at the market to see who could accommodate this and Pillar came out on top.
“We found that the Pillar platform performed far better than anything similar we have seen before. We also found Pillar ticked a lot of boxes on the services front.”
Bosamia added that the performance of the Pillar offering encouraged BIS to sell the platform, which he said is not a complicated or technical offering.
“Pillar has been responsive as a partner and the performance of the platform is going well,” Bosamia said. “The Pillar offering will appeal to any end-user who wants storage of three terabytes or more. With Pillar we can build end-users an offering for today, which can also scale up in the future.”
Martin Eves, sales director for finance, telco and xSP at Pillar, said: “We approached BIS because it wanted a managed service for its customers.
“We have eight to 10 resellers in the UK and we have got a reasonable cross-section of partners. We will grow our channel, but we don’t want to over-distribute so resellers can still make margin.”
