Oil and gas is one lucrative area for HPC

Network infrastructure storage vendor QLogic has extended its Signature Partner channel programme to include a high-performance computing (HPC) strand.

In response to the emerging HPC clusters market, built on InfiniBand networks, the SignatureHPC scheme will provide VARs with easier access to the lucrative HPC market.

QLogic created a dedicated HPC team of six trained staff in October, to push its InfiniBand portfolio.

Henrik Hansen, EMEA marketing director for at QLogic, said: “The HPC programme is based on the Signature programme with some differences. There will be marketing and developing funds, a separate section for HPC partners on the portal, dedicated account management, deal registration and programmes on how to put solutions together with adapters for end-to-end sales.

“The HPC arena is growing rapidly and the market is moving towards 10GB Ethernet, which will further accelerate the HPC market,” he added.

QLogic’s portfolio of HPC networking products include multi-protocol fabric directors, edge switches, adapters, and a software suite to install, operate and maintain high-performance clusters.

“HPC is used in many sectors so we will be working with partners on tailored campaigns life sciences, education, and oil and gas are verticals that attract interest,” said Hansen.

Julian Fielden, managing director of reseller OCF, said: “The QLogic SignatureHPC programme is the first we have seen to take a global approach to delivering InfiniBand products, training and support.”
