Buy-and-build outfit Xploite has confirmed it is in talks to offload managed services arm Anix.

Xploite bought IBM specialist Anix for £10.45m in 2007 and has since integrated the brand with two other acquisitions – Posetiv and Red Squared.

Anix represents the bulk of Xploite’s business, although the London-listed firm has a smaller storage software arm called Storage Fusion – which is based on its 2007 acquisition of Itheon.

Xploite said in a statement this morning that it had noted the recent market speculation and confirmed that it is “currently in discussions regarding the possible sale of Anix Group Limited”.

“There can be no guarantee that these discussions will conclude in the sale of Anix,” it added. “A further announcement will be released in due course.”

Xploite, which is headed up by entrepreneur Ian Smith, achieved a total turnover of £46.3m in its last financial year.
