RM and Citrix claim CC4 Anywhere will help students to access their work from a wide variety of computing devices

Software vendor Citrix Systems and system builder RM have cosied up together and created a new network solution for schools.

RM’s new CC4 Anywhere product, which incorporates Citrix’s XenApp technology, is designed to allow teachers and students to access their work from a wide variety of computing devices including iPhones and Linux netboooks.

It is the first time the duo has worked closely together and the pair plans to collaborate on future solution development.

CC4 Anywhere is based on RM’s Community Connect network solution CC4, which is used by more than 5,000 schools and colleges in the UK.

Billy McNeil, development director at RM, said the system builder had been grappling with how to help schools accommodate the diversification of devices addressing their networks.

“This partnership means schools and colleges get all the benefits of the secure network and desktop management solution that are central to CC4, but now delivered to users wherever they need access to their information and on whatever device,” he said.

Kevin Bland, channel director at Citrix UK and Ireland, said: “Instead of having to ban sophisticated phones and netbooks from the classroom, teachers can turn them into a positive attribute which will release teaching and learning from the confines of the classroom.”
