Almost a year on from the merger of Marshal and 8e6 Technologies, M86 Security has unveiled itself to the market with integrated web and email security kit.
The company has been branded Marshal8e6 since the deal, and also acquired email security vendor Avinti. The forthcoming release of WebMarshal 6.5 will incorporate 8e6’s filtering database, while MailMarshal 6.7 will include Avinti’s blended threat protection technology.
Nick Hawkins, vice president of EMEA sales at M86, said: “It would have been sad if we had dropped the name of the products because that is a core part of our identity. But the new brand is a good opportunity for us to represent ourselves as bringing together the strengths of all the organisations.”

Hawkins said the integrated M86 portfolio of software, managed services and appliances would help VARs “drive new business across the board and increase upselling opportunities.”
Hawkins claimed 8e6 had brought with it a “much better” partner portal, which has benefited Marshal’s reseller base. He said the Avinti buyout was fuelled by market demand.
“Our partners said this technology would be a great acquisition,” he added.
