Hardware distributor Micro P, subsidiary of giant European distributor DCC, has purchased English storage distributor AGP for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, which was signed last week, will allow Micro P to expand its offerings in the storage arena, explained Conor Costigan, investor relations manager at DCC.
He added that AGP will remain its own company, although he was unable to confirm if the acquisition would lead to job losses.
"Strategically, it's a good deal, because of all the developments in the storage area," he said.
"We will leverage the skill we have based in Europe into the UK and, although this is a modest deal for us, this acquisition will accelerate our progress into (the storage) arena."
He said the acquisition is the next stage for DCC's IT distribution business, DCC SerCom, after the acquisition last year of French distributor Distrilogie.
"The acquisition is in line with our stated objective of expanding our IT distribution business into continental Europe," said DCC's chief executive, Jim Flavin.
