The deal between Computacenter and Thesaurus is believed to be worth £900,000

Computacenter has made its second IBM-focused acquisition in two days, this time snapping up certain assets of UK-based Premier Partner Thesaurus for approximately £900,000 in cash.

Yesterday the services and infrastructure giant splashed the cash on a €2m acquisition of German IBM VAR Becom Informationssysteme.

Computacenter is widely known to be on the hunt for acquisitions after the sale of its CCD distribution arm to Ingram Micro last month.

CRN understands the Thesaurus name will be set aside almost immediately as the firm is integrated into Computacenter.

Thesaurus' chief executive Mike Vinten, who CRN understands will stay on to run the business as a separate unit within Computacenter, was pleased with the acquisition.

"Myself and all the senior managers are highly delighted," he told CRN. "We are finally going to get an opportunity to develop and take advantage of the size, quality and ability of Computacenter and it really unshackles Thesaurus."

In a statement to the London Stock Exchange this afternoon Computacenter said:

"This acquisition will strengthen Computacenter’s position in the mainframe service solutions market, through bringing a mix of both existing and new customers to our solutions sales capability and an extension to Computacenter’s current skills capability in this area."
