Electronics giant LG has created a channel-focused team completely from scratch after announcing its first dedicated B2B push.
Last week the vendor officially launched its Business Solutions Partner Programme and partner portal to the B2B channel and revealed how it is now on the hunt for resellers to help it grab market share.
Barrie Guy has been appointed as its new UK general manager to spearhead its channel drive in the region, where it is pushing its growing range of network monitors, digital signage, projectors and data storage products to a business audience.

Speaking to CRN, Guy said: “I am very excited about this as LG is changing the way it does business. A lot of people consider LG as a consumer brand, but the market is mature enough and we are more than ready to work in the B2B market as well.
“We have five people assigned to the UK channel team already, and that is expected to increase to eight in the new year,” he said.
Guy added that LG partners will not be tiered, but will have equal access to product information and technical support through the portal.
LG is looking for audiovisual specialists and those with skills in the hotel/hospitality, education, government/public, retail and SME sectors, Guy added.
Lee Baker, business development manager at Midwich, one of LG’s long-standing UK distributors, said: “LG has some great products coming out and we have tripled our large format business with them this year.
“I would say LG is in a strong position to start next year and I think a lot of resellers will be interested in finding out their proposition for the B2B market.”
