Telecoms distributor Nimans has hailed the success of its workshop for NEC resellers and claims VARs welcomed the vendor's SV8100 unified communications (UC) platform with open arms.
The event was held at Nimans' Mancunian base earlier this month and the distributor claimed VARs came from as far afield as Swindon to take part. Seminars focused on sales and technical skills needed to sell NEC's UC technology.
Simon Hughes, distribution account manager for NEC, told attendees that the SV8100 could be an attractive offering for end users looking to reduce costs.

"Business objectives have changed in recent months as the economy slows down, " he said. "But we have a product which can help them work smarter and more efficiently. For a dealer it is important to offer them something beyond what they have got already.”
A representative from one Cheshire-based reseller attending the event claimed her company was keen to add the NEC UC technology to its portfolio.
"It fits within our market place where converged solutions leads to greater progression," she said.
"Every telephone system claims to be feature-rich but this one genuinely does seem to live up to the hype. When we are quoting for lots of systems, we have lost out in the past because we have had to add on extra features which does not then make it cost effective."
