Marketing director, Computer 2000
Career so far I returned to Computer 2000 as marketing director in April 2010 having previously enjoyed seven years with the company as a general manager in sales, product marketing and marketing. During the 10-year spell away from Computer 2000, I held director roles at Westcoast Distribution and at Dell. I also spent nine years at HP in the formative days of IT channel business.
If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? I don’t want to be anyone else, but popping back for a week to my twenties when I was a surfer bumming around African beaches would be appealing.
What will next year’s most overhyped industry buzzword be? We’ve had a year of cloud; perhaps next year it will be rain, oh no, we had that all summer!
Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? It has been great. We are having a fun time at Computer 2000, a great team which is working hard and playing hard.
What would you have as your last meal? Fried squid, white wine, blue skies, on a beach.
What keeps you awake at night? Ideas. I’m always waking up having dreamt up wild ideas; if only I could remember them all in the morning.
What piece of technology could you not be without? My phone. It is now the centre of all communications
Have any of your predictions come true this year? I don’t do predications, but I’m spot on my forecast.
What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? A ski trip in Canada was right up there. I’m sure there was a business element to it but I only remember the snow and après ski.
What do you see as the channel’s biggest challenge in 2013? We need to remain focused on driving growth across the entire breadth of the channel and providing the SMB partners with the services and tools they’ll need to keep up with and get ahead of the rate of change.
