Career so far Between 1979-1987 I was in Auto ID product management and sales, from 1987 to 1994 I worked in Auto ID sales & marketing management, in 1994 I wsa involved in Auto ID start up ABC Technology Distribution and exited in 2003, during the non-compete years of 2003-05 I worked in the AV sector, and in 2005 I started mobile computing distributor Varlink.

If you could be anyone else for a week, who would you be? Any one of the world's top marathon runners so that I could experience what it feels like to run 26.2 miles smoothly and at pace rather than my usual steady shuffle.

What will next year's most overhyped industry buzzword be? BYOD.

Has 2012 been a good, bad or ugly year? Good - we put the work in and it paid off.

What would you have as your last meal? Not sure but I would want a lot of it so it took a long, long time to eat.

What keeps you awake at night? Aching legs after a long evening run.

What piece of technology could you not be without? A Garmin 205 GPS watch.

Have any of your predictions come true this year? Yes, interest in tablet computers has turned into sales.

What is the best partner/customer trip you have ever been on? Symbol Technologies taking all the attendees at a Scantech Exhibition in Chicago to see a private show given by Ray Charles.

What do you see as the channel's biggest challenge in 2013? Finding the right key to unlock end user budgets.
