Dave Stevinson

Managing director, Enta Group

What achievement are you most proud of?

Winning the Manchester Tennis & Racquet Club Handicap singles and having my name in gold up on the board right above the bar.

What has been the biggest change in the channel since you started working in it?

Since my debut in the channel back in 1994, the internet has been the driver of the biggest transformation in the channel and has caused the conception, rise, decline and death of countless large channel players.

What three things could you not live without?

Notwithstanding the three basic human rights - water, oxygen and internet access - I would have to say my weekly real tennis match, a Rubiks cube and my lifetime's collection of books.

What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?

There are many examples, but one in particular which springs to mind was my big "End of Summer holiday clutter clear out" in the family home. All went well until my daughter was starting her first day back in Year 8 and her Summer art homework (which she had spent many painstaking hours creating) was conspicuous by its absence - obligating a very red-faced Dave Stevinson to pen a letter of apology to the teacher.

What do your family think you do all day?

March from one meeting to another, collecting work to do at home in the evening.

Who is your ultimate celeb crush?

I am notoriously bad with celebrities, but I must admit I did take quite a shine to the charming sister of Kate Middleton at the Royal wedding a few years back.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Curling up on the couch on a Sunday afternoon with a PG Wodehouse novel.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

Sadly it would be to resign - I am not an advocate of those that work in politics or religion for that matter. I feel my skillsets, morals and interests are better placed in business.

Has 2015 been a good, bad or ugly year?

None of the above - 2015 has been a great year and it is getting better. I was given the opportunity to lead the recovery and transformation project at Enta Group, which is a most exciting and challenging opportunity.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would you do?

I am very inquisitive by nature so would probably work in academia and I may well follow that path in my later years.

What major issues will the channel face in 2016?

I will predict further consolidation at every tier in the channel. The surge in supply of smart packaged apps that will be delivered without the assistance of the channel.
