Managing director, Ramsac

What achievement are you most proud of?

My funny, sparky and intelligent children.

What has been the biggest change in the channel since you started working in it?

The cloud and the range of ways the channel now adds value.

What three things could you not live without?

1. My running shoes (freedom, exercise, challenge and de-stress). 2. My Nespresso machine (instant coffee is criminal). 3. My music collection (however I'm feeling, music is the answer).

What has been your most embarrassing moment so far?

Being on a client's site and splitting my trousers. The MD's PA offered to sew them up if I took my trousers off (which I did). The MD walked in seeing me in state of undress which was entirely innocent but nonetheless took some explaining!

What do your family think you do all day?

My son thinks I'm like his headmaster at school and my daughter thinks I'm famous (doing lots of radio and magazine work). My wife just thinks I make IT simple.

Who is your ultimate celeb crush?

Keira Knightley. I think she would be very happy with me!

What is your guilty pleasure?

Oh dear, I'm afraid it's watching Come Dine With Me. I know it's trashy but I love it.

What would be your first act if you were made Prime Minister?

I would introduce the sugar tax. Obesity is rising at such an astonishing rate and our healthcare system simply won't be able to support future costs.

Has 2015 been a good, bad or ugly year?

It's been a great year. There is so much confidence in our clients, both the existing ones and the new, and we're doing exciting projects and really working with clients to help them grow their business via intelligent use of technology.

If you didn't work in the IT channel, what would you do?

I would be an author and an international business speaker.

What major issues will the channel face in 2016?

It will be interesting to see how the role of distribution changes and continues to add value as more and more moves to the cloud. Manufacturer partner statuses will also be impacted as less tin continues to be shipped.
