Being a huge fan of Alan Sugar's Apprentice - I certainly laughed along with the rest of them at Alex Epstein - the guy who truly believes he is a PR guru.
After being kicked out by Lord Sugar - Epstein decided to send an email to 700 media movers and shakers, but instead of bcc-ing people, he just cc'd them - meaning everyone could see the entire mailing list in full. Durrrr.
But that aside - what amused me even more was the content of the email which I have pasted below (I have omitted the full length picture of him though - sorry)
Could Alex Epstein - one of Lord Sugar’s Apprentices feature in your Online Publication? Having recently been fired by Lord Sugar, I’m currently looking for opportunities to share some of my passion for enterprise, marketing and public relations.
During my time on The Apprentice I impressed and entertained the nation with my creative ideas, from devising names such as the Cuuli and Boozy Banger to working on one of the biggest product launches/mistakes the cleaning market has ever seen - Germinator!
And that’s what makes me unique - I’m bold, full of personality, entertaining, and really do believe in learning from my mistakes.
I’d like to pitch myself as someone who would be interested in opportunities within your publication.
I have lots of ideas in this area: The next series of The Apprentice - The next series of the show is just around the corner (March I think). I would make an excellent critic, giving my views and outspoken opinions on a week by week basis.
Alex Epstein as your creative business PR/Marketing agony uncle Perhaps you have a business / enterprise section that I could add some value to.
I’d be interested in running a Q&A column with questions from the general public, helping them with their creative conundrums.
Product / Service / Idea reviews I’d make an excellent product reviewer - and would be happy to be a critic on all things, business related or wider. Whilst I am remembered often for my humorous style, I have a credible business background and have spent the last four years as Head of Communications for one of the UK’s fastest growing technology businesses.
During my time there, I worked to launch several highly-successful PR campaigns and was a real contributor to their success.
Post Apprentice, I continue to work as a freelance Marketing and PR consultant and have some of my own product launches in the pipeline. I have a real passion for business - particularly enterprise and entrepreneurship.
At the moment I am very much enjoying inspiring young people to make their business aspirations a reality with various talks and workshops at schools/colleges. I hope you can see the value of having someone like myself on board - and I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss further how I could add a fresh and exiting addition to your publication.
Sorry Alex - but I think my cat would be more useful in marketing and has far better opinions.
I suggest you leave the PR to the people who know what they are talking about.
However you do win my top prize for the biggest laugh of the year so far.

PS - What happened to your resurrected career at Masternaut - that fast-growing technology business?
