Noxs feels Secure over new contract

Distributor to exploit niche in the SME sector following the completion of CP Secure deal

Written by Sara Yirrell

Security distributor Noxs has added anti-virus streaming appliance specialist CP Secure to its vendor ranks.

CP Secure was founded by David Lu and Shuang Ji, both former vice-presidents at rival security vendor Trend Micro. CP Secure’s flagship Content Security Gateway series appliances use stream-based scanning technology to target worms, Trojans and spyware. Noxs will act as its sole distributor in the UK.

Kay Eggleston, managing director of Noxs, said: “We have seen a niche in the market, particularly in the SME space, for an anti-virus solution that is not based on a per-user system, but which competes with the big boys such as Trend Micro and Sophos.

“Although 80 per cent of end-users have anti-virus systems at the gateway to check their email, less than 10 per cent of those address web anti-virus threats.

“The product will suit our smaller resellers, and because the software is proprietary it is an easy sell for VARs.”

Eggleston said the distributor has assigned James Reay as a dedicated manager for CP Secure to help Noxs’ resellers build an end-user base, and also to oversee the recruitment of VARs.

She added that although there is not a formal channel certification programme in place, it is something that is in the pipeline.

“Resellers can secure an initial 25 points of margin on each sale, and we are anticipating that will rise to 35 points once they have completed the associated training,” she said.

Juergen Saamen, head of CP Secure’s EMEA business, said the vendor partnered with Noxs because of its strong reseller relationships.

“CP Secure partners will profit from good technical products, support and interesting margins with attractive end-user pricing,” he said.
