Oracle joins forces with with CC to attract ISVs

Firms unveils migration centre to help ISVs make the switch to Oracle platform

Written by Trevor Treharne

Oracle has partnered with Computacenter to make the database giant more accessible to the SME market.

The firms have jointly opened a migration centre, designed to help ISVs migrate to Oracle’s technology. The facility will be based in Computacenter’s Solutions Centre in Hatfield.

Computacenter will provide ISVs with on-site technical support and a dedicated service desk. The initiative will help more than 40 ISVs migrate to Oracle platforms in the next 12 months, the firms said.

David Callaghan, vice-president of channels and solutions at Oracle UK, told CRN: “We have put an emphasis on the SME market, and our products now work for enterprises of all sizes. In the past, some lower-end customers felt they could not work with Oracle, but this move indicates that we are looking towards SMEs.”

Callaghan said the migration centre supports ISVs as they move platforms and upgrade from old platforms, while enabling them to make the transition in the shortest time possible in a controlled environment that provides technical support.

“The migration centre has been launched due to a strong demand from our ISV base,” Callaghan added. “We had already worked with Computacenter in the past and felt the partnership was a strong fit.”

Simon Gay, consultancy practice leader at Computacenter, said: “Computacenter has been building up its services portfolio. Oracle is a core partner for us.”

Gay added that the migration centre will strengthen Computacenter’s relationships with Oracle’s ISVs.

“ISVs can optimise their platforms to make use of Oracle’s global recognition and resources, while we provide them with opportunities to extend the range of infrastructure services they offer to customers,” he said. “We still focus on the top-tier customers, but it is important to focus across the whole spectrum.”
