ProVu hopes for channel credibility from Siemens deal

Distributor thinks agreement with vendor will give it 'more kudos in the market'

Written by Trevor Treharne

Specialist voice over IP (VoIP) distributor ProVu Communications is hoping its recent distribution agreement with vendor Siemens will help the firm’s channel credibility.

Huddersfield-based ProVu already has distribution agreements with vendors such as Snom, Linksys and Intertex. It has now been appointed to distribute Siemens’ range of VoIP handsets, including the SME-focused C460IP phone.

Ian Godfrey, director at ProVu, told CRN: “Siemens is such a globally recognised brand. We are still a small company, so this will give us more kudos in the market.

“Siemens has an excellent range of Dect handsets that can work as a normal fixed-line phone or as a VoIP phone. These are also competitively priced.”

Godfrey added that ProVu has about 100 VARs, all of which will be offered the opportunity to provide the Siemens range.

“I don’t know how many of our VARs that will take up the Siemens product,” he said. “We have the VoIP expertise Siemens was looking for and we also work closely with some of the VoIP service providers.”

The Siemens range will be complementary to ProVu’s other vendor offerings in its portfolio, Godfrey added.

John Smith, UK sales director at Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices, said: “ProVu was selected because of its success in developing outsourced logistics and fulfilment services for UK VoIP service providers and its specialist technical ability to support the products on behalf of the service providers.”
