Websense drops InTechnology

Vendor and distributor will contine working together to ensure a controlled exit strategy

Written by Sara Yirrell

Internet security vendor Websense is to part company with distributor InTechnology. As revealed by CRN, the relationship came under scrutiny when InTechnology signed with Websense rival SurfControl (CRN, 18 September). Last week the firms announced their intention to split, but said they will continue to work together to ensure a controlled exit strategy.

Steve Pearce, chief operating officer at InTechnology, said: “This is a mutual agreement, although we would be very happy to continue working with Websense. We were given the opportunity to distribute SurfControl on an exclusive basis. Websense was looking to rationalise its distribution channel; this has given it the chance.”

Frank Coggrave, regional director EMEA at Websense, said: “We evalutated whether to continue working with them, but they have chosen a different direction.”
