Becta decision sends resellers back to school

Three VARs make it onto the latest framework agreement from British Educational  Communications and Technology Agency

VARs Azzuri Communications, Ramesys, and Research Machines (RM) have made it onto the latest framework agreement from the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta).

The VARs underwent more than 150 tests to enable them to supply managed services to support the three-year Learning Platform Services Framework. The aim of the framework is to provide all students with online capabilities by 2008.

Robin Ball, manager of learning services at Becta, said: “Learning platforms are a concept and the selected suppliers will offer a whole host of services and technology to create these platforms.”

Mark Chamberlain, learning platform business manager at RM, told CRN: “This is our fourth Becta framework award and we are very pleased to be selected because learning platforms are a very important emerging market.”

Gerard Toplass, business development director, at Azzurri, said: “Together with our Becta Internet Service Provider accreditation and our appointment as a Becta Infrastructure Services supplier, this re-affirms our position as one of the leading suppliers of educational technology for schools, academies and Building Schools for the Future projects.”

One of the solutions Azzuri will offer under the framework is TALMOS, a teaching and learning management open system, which provides lesson planning, curriculum mapping of resources and external access for parents and children.

Bill Donoghue, chief executive of Ramesys, said the accreditation would further raise its profile in the education sector.

“Becta’s recognition of Ramesys as a company and the quality of our learning platform, Assimilate, offers schools peace of mind, guaranteeing a high level of product and service delivery,” he said.
