Trial date set for Stuart Mann

Former managing director of Future Network Systems Sales due in court in October

Written by Laura Hailstone

A trial date has been set for Stuart Mann, the former managing director of defunct reseller Future Network Systems Sales (FNS), following a preliminary hearing at Southwark Crown Court last week.

FNS went into administration in 2003 with debts believed to be in the region of £3m to £4m. Hewlett-Packard (HP), Bell Micro, Computer 2000 and Ingram Micro were among its creditors.

Mann, along with co-defendant Denise Davie, faces charges of alleged conspiracy and fraudulent trading.

A representative at Southwark Crown Court told CRN: “Mann pleaded not guilty at the preliminary hearing on 26 January. A trial date has been set for 1 October 2007. It is expected to last between three and four weeks.

“A Plea and Case Management Hearing is scheduled for 25 May where the defence will apply to have Davie’s charges dismissed.”

Eddie Pacey, director of credit services at Bell, said: “Now a date has been set for the trial I would expect some of the creditors to be approached to act as witnesses.

“I imagine HP will definitely be involved because it was one of the driving forces behind bringing the charges against Mann. One of our people has also had direct dealings with Mann, so they will probably be called up.”
