IBM and 3Com have launched what they claim is the first product to integrate IP telephony with email, messaging and business process applications on a single, secure platform.

The System i Integrated Collaboration offering, which builds on the System i IP Telephony offering the vendors developed last November, is less expensive to manage that competing Windows-based, multi-server offerings, IBM claims.

As a result, the vendors have announced plans to work with over 100 ISVs to integrate the technology with their existing offerings and push the combined offering to a wider audience.
