IT247 decides on a new Way

Online VAR develops service to help end-users customise orders

Ambitious online reseller IT247 has designed its own build-to-order technology to help it stand out in a crowded market place.

The Merseyside-based firm, which launched last year and also has a traditional VAR business, has developed its online Build it Your Way service to help end-users customise orders.

Steve Willock, managing director of IT247, said: “Many of our customers were dissatisfied with vanilla versions of machines from the big manufactures and wanted enhancements. We have given them a way to do this.”

The VAR is also due to relocate to bigger offices because of its rapid growth. It is looking to increase staffing levels from 44 to 60 in the next 12 months.

“Throughout 2006 we grew by 30 to 40 per cent month-on-month and we are continuing to grow,” he said.

Willock claimed the main reason for its success was the volume of products it offers compared with its rivals.

Stewart Hayward, commercial director at rival WStore, said: “We would not consider IT247 a threat. It has entered a market that is dominated by big names and established brands. Unless its undercuts everyone else on price, I can’t see anything new it is bringing to the table.”
