C2000 looks to CAD growth

Distribution giant creates director role for specialist CAD/CAM division - Datech 2000

Computer 2000 (C2000) has appointed David Watts to drive growth of its specialist CAD/CAM division – Datech 2000.

Watts rejoins the distributor as director of the newly created division after leaving two years ago to become Samsung’s displays and audiovisual general manager, UK and Ireland. He was previously general manager, PC systems and peripherals at C2000.

Andy Gass, managing director of C2000, said: “We are delighted to have David back on the team and taking up this important new role in our business. C2000 is very much a collection of specialists, backed by the most efficient and effective back-room engine in the industry and Datech 2000 is one of the most important focused business units.

“Over the past two years, we have seen significant growth in this part of our business and are aiming to capitalise on that growth and take Datech 2000 to new heights,” Gass said.

Watts said: “I’m thrilled to have been given such an excellent and exciting opportunity. Datech 2000 is already the biggest Autodesk distributor in the UK and has the potential to deliver a great deal more to VARs focused on the CAD, engineering, architecture and high-end graphics and visual arts markets. I’m really looking forward to playing a central role in shaping the future strategy and direction of the business and taking into the next stage of its development.”

Gass added: “Datech 2000 is an example of just how effective Computer 2000 is in delivering the best of both worlds for its reseller customers and business partners. We can provide the focus and expertise and the economies of scale that make both high value sales and significant growth achievable. As we move forward as a business, we will apply this approach to other areas of our business – Datech 2000 is the standard bearer for this strategy.”
