The VCW/Fresh Egg deal has been competed

Voice Comms swallows Fresh Egg

Security distributor will finally be rolled into voice distributor and become specialised unit

Written by Sara Yirrell

Security distributor Fresh Egg has officially been rolled into Voice Comms Warehouse (VCW) after it was taken over earlier this month (CRN, 20 August).
Rumours of a merger between the two companies have been circulating in the channel for several weeks (CRN, 16 July), but Fresh Egg has now officially been incorporated into a division called VCW Security, which is being headed up by former managing director of Fresh Egg, Graham Fox.

Speaking to CRN, Fox said: “Fresh Egg had hit a glass ceiling and expansion and growth were the obvious way forward. This merger gives us the financial stability and technical resources of VCW, combined with our knowledge and expertise.”
Fox said the distributor has aggressive plans for the security space.
“We have already signed four new vendors and have managed to retain our relationship with Fortinet and other vendors.” He declined to name the new vendors.

Mike Harris, chairman of VCW said: “I said 18 months ago I would be looking to build the distribution side of the business through organic growth and acquisition. Fresh Egg was the first and we haven’t finished.”
Rival distributors said they would be watching developments closely.
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill Group, said: “We are experiencing growth across the portfolio and there are sales opportunities out there. I would say good luck to VCW in its new venture. It will be interesting to see what happens.”
Kay Eggleston, managing director of Noxs, told CRN: “VCW is not well known in the security world. However, I’m sure it will work
hard to push into these markets, but it is going to face some stiff competition from the more established security players.”
